UK Councils Troubled by EU Reycling Rules

The United Kingdom may soon have to curtail the amount of rubbish being sent to landfill in the near future.

New proposals on recycling by the EU will result in the UK having to divert a large amount of waste away from landfills. The Commission is aiming to see 80% or packaged recycling and 70% of municipal rubbish compared to current rates by 2030.

The Environmental Commissioner estimates that these ambitious new targets could create more than half a million jobs across the European Union.
