DataDot Technology is a leader in identification and authentication, and is well known for its microdot technology that theft protects over 1 million cars in Australia. This same microdot technology is now being used to identify demolition waste in a novel chain of custody solution called DataDot Waste Tracker.

Illegal waste dumping causes pollution, disease, environmental damage and costs society – councils and the state government, millions of dollars in clean-up costs. Illegal dumpers price undercut legitimate demolition companies as they cut corners and avoid paying waste levies. DataDot Waste Tracker helps make the owner, transporter and any subcontractors accountable for unlawful waste disposal.

DataDot Waste Tracker is a deterrent against illegal waste dumping. The Waste Tracker application involves 16,000+ 1mm microdots that contain a unique PIN being sprayed on a typical 3 or 4 bedroom house that is to be demolished. The DataDots combined with Crime Stoppers warning signage deter illegal waste dumping. In the event of an unlawful waste disposal and the waste being found, the DataDot evidence can support criminal prosecution as it has in car theft.

DataDot is working DECCW and local councils and ROC’s to roll out Waste Tracker. The initial focus in NSW is asbestos related demolitions.
